Fabric Roller Covers 1/8 to 1/4 Inch Nap 9 Inch
Short nap roller covers are best suited to gloss, semi gloss, satin, and eggshell finishes.. They work best on smooth surfaces such as cabinets and metal doors. Standard roller covers are 9 inches wide and built on a 1-1/2 inch diameter core. All better rollers use a phenolic, 2 ply polypropylene or seamless plastic core.
What’s the difference between knitted, woven and microfiber roller covers?
Knit gives better coverage at a lower cost but some lint (shedding). Woven gives a better finish, less lint but lower paint pick-up and release. Microfiber yields maximum coverage, flawless finish, less lint.
How do I choose the right cover for the job?
For brushes, it’s the type of paint that matters latex or oil. For rollers, it’s the sheen flat to gloss, because the higher the sheen in the paint, the more the surface will show lint as texture from the roller. For semi-gloss or gloss paint, choose a shed-resistant woven cover. To apply flat, eggshell, or satin paint, a high-capacity knitted cover can be used. For a super-fine finish, it’s perfectly okay to use a shed-resistant roller with a flat or satin paint, too.
