It requires cold temperatures and the presence of run-off water from the roof in contact with the sensor wire. If only one of the conditions exists, the control will not turn on the cable. A switch inside the house can control the box. The power cord for this control is 6 foot. The sensor wire is 10 foot. Csa & ul listed.
