The Pro-Lab® Professional Lead in Paint and Dust Test Kit is an inexpensive, safe, easy-to-use and reliable method to test for lead and get instant results. Ingesting lead paint and breathing in lead dust is the #1 contributor to lead poisoning, which causes brain damage and affects thousands of people, especially children, each year. Test your home if it has lead pipe plumbing installed previous to 1930 and copper pipe plumbing installed before 1988, which may contain lead solder. The kit offers the option of testing either suspect of lead paint or lead dust to EPA and HUD approved methods (meets EPA Title X) requirements for real estate transactions. It utilizes laboratory atomic absorption spectrometer via graphite furnace and offers the most accurate results. To test: simply locate and clean the suspected area, put on the enclosed gloves and using a scraper, cut an angle to expose paint and collect about a tablespoon full of paint chips or scrapings. To test for lead in dust: similarly collect a sample from the area in question using the enclosed wipe. Once the sample of paint or dust is collected, put it into the enclosed sample bag and seal. Then completely fill out the data card, and return the detectors to Pro-Lab in the prepaid postage envelope along with any required lab fee.
